One small step....

Well, I have finally done it.
Last night, at 1:50 am, I decided to start sleep training Abby.  It's not as spur of the moment as it sounds.
You see, I have been reading an e-book on sleep training, sent to me by an old friend.  By old, I mean I knew her a long time ago, not that she is 'old'.
Anywho.... She woke crying and I decided not to pick her up.  Usually, I scoop her up and nurse her back to sleep, but, I have had enough of that.  She doesn't really need a feeding in the middle of the night, so I let her cry, hoping her soother would do the trick.  Well, cry she did. She has this agonizing, high pitched scream that makes you want to pick her up just to make it stop. I can only imagine what the neighbours think.
Abby's first su-su.

Let me tell you, I thought Mike was going to strangle me.  He can't stand it when she cries.  He asked me more than once if he could pick her up.  I refused, determined to see this through.
Well, after about 40 minutes of her screaming on and off, she finally fell back to sleep.
So today I decided to try taking away the soother (gasp!)  Belle didn't give her's up until she was 4 and I don't want to deal with that again. Besides... 'the book says' to remove sleep props that she can't control herself.
My 'big girl' with her su-su.

Nap one came around and I put her down with no su-su.  I stayed in the room with her, as this was bound to be brutal. She screamed again for 30 minutes. BUT she slept for a whole HOUR! Yay!
Nap two, she only cried for 10 minutes, so I thought we would keep it away... and off to bed for the night she went sans su-su. She has woken a few times, crying, but went back to sleep fairly quickly.
As I write this, 1:30 quickly approaches.
Only time will tell if this is going to work.....
